Chris Day
Chris has been a staff photographer at The Commercial Appeal since February 2023. Chris has previously worked as a staffer at The Jackson Sun and a photo intern at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, South Florida Sun Sentinel, Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Gainesville Sun and as the Multimedia Editor and staff photographer for The Independent Florida Alligator.
He has his master’s degree in photography from Ohio University and graduated with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and history from the University of Florida.
Chris was named the 2023 NPPA MIdwest Photographer of the Year, won First Place feature photo from the Associated Press Sports Editors in 2024, and won first place for Best Sports Photograph from the Tennessee Press Association in 2025.
He has had bylines in The Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times, The Associated Press, Chicago Tribune, and the US World and News Report among others.
